Evaluation
You will be evaluated and your final grade on the project will be determined by the following rubric (click on the picture below to download the most updated version of the rubric):
There are also certain common sense aspects of the project that do not earn you points, but you will be docked points for including them or for not including them. These are summarized in the following list with the corresponding academic penalties in parenthesis:
- Failure to include your name on the final project (-2 points for name absent from front page; -5 points for name completely absent from work)
- Inclusion of language inappropriate for school. Exceptions to this rule include direct quotes from legitimate sources, strong language for emphasis of important concepts (with prior teacher approval), or strong language for artistic value (with prior teacher approval). (standard: -10 % from final grade; if used with malice: -25 % from final grade and disciplinary action)
- Project turned in late. If absent on the due date, the project may be submitted electronically on the due date prior to the start of the school day to not be considered late. A hard-copy of the project with no alterations from the previously submitted electronic copy must be turned in on the next day in school. (-5 % of final grade per weekday late. Teachers are an understanding lot, and we understand life happens. If emergencies occur, email your teacher promptly)
- Letters are formatted in a nonstandard way in order to artificially increase page length (i.e. not 12 pt. font, margins not 1" all around, a large, non-standard font is used, etc.). (-4 pts per instance)
- Academic dishonesty. (sections containing plagiarism will not be scored AND maximum score possible on project will be reduced to 59% -- a failing grade)
